Working closely as a Deputy to Pieter Labuschagne the CSQ Region Manager, you will deliver technical excellence, drive projects and shape strategic direction.All while maintaining work life balance with a 38 hour week and 4 extra leave days per year ("Tools Down Days").

This position is about

• Designing and managing investigations
• Interpreting data and developing robust conceptual models
• Engaging clients, regulators, and internal specialists to shape outcomes
• Mentoring and guiding early career hydrogeologists through complex field and desktop investigations
• Delivering practical insights that influence large scale water management decisions
• Supporting integrated projects across mining, infrastructure, and environmental sectors

We're not looking for another modeller, we've got that covered with 15+ in-house specialists. Nor do we need a Team Lead at this stage, and this position doesn't include formal people management. We're after a Principal Hydrogeologist (or Associate ready to step up) who thrives on leading projects, directing project teams, and partnering with clients to confidently deliver outcomes.

What you'll need

We don't expect perfection, in fact we actively discourage chasing it.If this role speaks to you and you meet most of the criteria, we'd really like to hear your story.

• Strong technical hydrogeology skills, particularly in groundwater conceptualisation
• A track record of directing and delivering large, integrated groundwater projects
• Familiarity with QLD and NSW water and mining regulations
• High-level skills in stakeholder engagement, technical reporting, and QA/QC review
• Conversant in groundwater modelling, but you don't need to run the code
• Strategic thinking, seeing the big picture, integrating across workstreams, and empowering client decisions
• Business development experience, or a desire to grow in this space
• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science or a related field; postgraduate qualifications in hydrogeology are highly regarded
