**Company Description**

Join us at ESG Solutions, a fast-paced, technically driven company with an exciting work environment. We see every day as a new opportunity to impress our customers, grow our understanding, and build our expertise.

With a customer base spanning six continents and regional offices in Canada, the United States, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia, we’re able to offer competitive career opportunities worldwide. ESG offers competitive compensation and an employee bonus scheme.

At ESG, a Geophysical Analyst uses geophysical technical expertise to analyse and interpret data acquired using remote and automated monitoring systems and to relate the results in a meaningful way to operational challenges. These two aspects of the role of an applied geophysicist are inseparable and of equal importance.

Geophysical Analysts in ESG work closely with several functional groups in different regions to ensure deadlines are met and client deliverables provide value and actionable insights.

**Job Duties**
- Deep geophysical data interpretation and analysis. This includes but is not limited to advanced microseismic analyses such as re-entry protocol calibration, moment tensor inversions, three-dimensional velocity model building, hazard analyses, passive seismic tomography, statistical and collective behavior of seismic events.
- Integration of various data sets, including but not limited to seismic, geological / geophysical, geotechnical, tilt, fiber, production, survey (e.g., InSAR) data.
- Relating the outcomes of geophysical interpretation and analyses to operational, geological and geomechanical challenges on client sites.
- Application of geophysical principles and analysis to design appropriate monitoring systems for new and existing sites.
- Microseismic data processing QC and review (arrival time picking, QC of event location, source parameter calculations).
- System performance and health monitoring; working with other Geophysical Specialists. and/or with the Data Processing team to optimise system parameters as needed.
- Report writing.
- Rostered on-call client assistance under stressful conditions, outside of normal working hours at night, on weekends, and on public holidays.
- Participation in and (often) leading client meetings/presentations
- Keeping up to date with current literature and developments in the applicable geophysical disciplines and rock mechanics.
- Providing support to business development by giving technical sales presentations to potential clients, and input on potential analyses for existing clients.
- Mentoring colleagues.
- Traveling short term for client meetings and/or conferences.
- Performing site visits of up to several weeks.

**Requirements**:

- B.Sc or higher in Mining or Geotechnical Engineering is preferred; B.Sc. Honours in Geophysics, Physics, Earth Sciences with Physics and maths or related field will also be considered.
- Professional designation(s) or the ability to obtain said designations is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Python programming (or another, immediately transferrable scripting language) required.
- Knowledge of the principles of mining / geotechnical engineering, geophysics and / or seismology.
- Work experience in the mining sector (in particular underground mining) and / or field experience on mines is considered an advantage.
- Some knowledge of or proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia, Spanish, French, and Portuguese would be an advantage.
- Well developed communication and generalised problem-solving skills.
- Keen to continuously learn.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- The right to live and work indefinitely in Australia (i.e., Australian permanent resident, Australian or New Zealand citizen).

**Personal abilities and skills**:

- Self-reliant, independent, self-directed, energetic, and driven to succeed.
- Passion for excellence, focussed on providing high quality deliverables and an appreciation that detail is very important.
- Able to challenge the status quo.
- Initiative: taking ownership, doing what is needed without being asked, following through.
- Self-managing: although ESG has nominal working hours, how those hours are distributed through a week are not prescribed occasionally circumstances require work outside of “normal” work hours. These may include on site emergencies, meetings in other time zones, technical work on client equipment in quiet times outside of normal working hours on site. We are focussed on outcomes, not the clock - the successful applicant must be able to manage their time themselves.
- Team player: no job is too menial or of lesser importance. We all pitch in to do whatever is necessary to meet a deadline, ensure a successful outcome, or provide continuity of service.
- Critical thinking: constantly looking for and suggesting improvements in deliverables and procedures, challenging the status quo.
- Integration: can synthesise several streams of analysis and data types into a coherent narra
