**_ The Role_**

The primary purpose of the Forensic Mental Health Clinician role is to provide forensic mental health consultation, liaison and clinical services to public sector forensic and civil psychiatric patients who are either in, or transitioning to, the community setting. The role is responsible for providing specialist forensic mental health risk assessment and management reports, using a range of evidence-based structured professional judgment tools; providing advice and support; co-care coordination and specialist education and training to NSW Health Local Health District (LHD) mental health services and judicial bodies specifically regarding the safe care of patients who present a risk of harm to others. The Forensic Mental Health Clinician is a multidisciplinary position, relevant for a Clinical Nurse Consultant, Clinical or Forensic Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker, and sits within the Forensic Consultation and Assessment Team (ForCAT).
The ForCAT is one of the services falling under the remit of NSW Community Forensic Mental Health Services (CFMHS). It is a tertiary-level specialist forensic mental health team that provides independent assessment, opinions, recommendations, and support in relation to the care, treatment and management of Forensic Patients in the community across NSW. The ForCAT also provides such assessment, opinions, recommendations and support regarding the treatment and management of NSW civil patients with complex clinical needs, propensity for problematic behaviours, and who cause significant concern about harm to others.

**_Essential Requirements_**
- For **allied health staff** - minimum of five years full time equivalent post-bachelor qualification experience, with at least two years full time equivalent experience in the field of forensic mental health.
- o **Occupational Therapist** - Bachelor or postgraduate degree in occupational therapy and holds general registration with Occupational Therapy Board of Australia under Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). To be appointed as a Level 4 Occupational Therapist, evidence must be provided of minimum three years' clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist and demonstrated experience of extensive specialist knowledge or a high level of broad generalist knowledge within the discipline as defined by the award definitions of a Level 4 Health Professional.
