The Role
Justice Health NSW is a state-wide, Board governed, Specialty Network delivering healthcare services to adults and young people who come into contact with, or who are at risk of coming into contact with, the criminal justice system, across secure inpatient, custodial, court and community settings.
School Link is collaboration between NSW Ministry of Health and NSW Department of Education. School Link is one of a range of initiatives that was launched in 1999 to improve the mental health of adolescents and young people in NSW. School Link supports the early identification of mental health issues for young people and assists in identifying the pathways to care for students with mental health problems and disorders. Additionally, the School Link initiative aims to improve the mental health literacy of schools, TAFE NSW and other learning environments. The Network School Link Coordinator works across the state in formal collaboration with School Link Coordinators from other Local Health Districts to support the implementation of school based mental health promotion, prevention programs and early intervention programs for young people who are in contact with the criminal justice system.
The Teen Got It program provides evidence-informed early-intervention for young people with disruptive behaviour disorders and other mental health issues. Clinicians work with young people and their parent/carer to increase their knowledge and capacity to better manage emotions and behaviours, and subsequently reduce their risk of recurrent criminality, poor mental health, difficulties with personal relationships and poor educational achievement. behaviours, and subsequently reduce their risk of recurrent criminality, poor mental health, difficulties with personal relationships and poor educational achievement.
Essential Requirements:
- Allied Health Professional (e.g., Social Worker, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or other allied health profession deemed appropriate by employer) with current AHPRA Registration and/or membership of the relevant professional association.
- Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2): Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia. Three years full-time clinical experience working in the related specialty field and post graduate qualifications in the specialty.
- National Criminal Record Check and Working With Children Check.
- Current Driver Licence with eligibility to drive in NSW and ability to work across various locations and outreach sites within the district as needed.
The Justice Health Olympic Park office is located at 10 Herb Elliot Avenue, Sydney Olympic Park. Designed for inter-departmental communication and collaborative working, the office provides large open spaces and an abundance of natural light. An array of restaurants and café options are a short walk away.
Easy access is provided via public transport including buses, trains, and ferries, as well as road access via the M4 and Parramatta Road via Homebush Bay Drive. 35 km of bicycle paths surround the site, and bicycle storage and shower amenities are available in the office as well.
