**About the role**
- Coordinate all Municipal Emergency Relief and Recovery activities of Greater Dandenong City Council and ensure Council is fully prepared to organise and arrange assistance for our community.
- Coordinate Council’s Municipal Fire Prevention Programs and maintain the Municipal Fire Management Sub Plan.
- Support the Emergency Management team to ensure Council complies with all relevant federal, state and local acts and obligations in relation to Municipal Emergency Management.
- Assist with the overall delivery and coordination of Council’s activities in planning for, preparation of and response to Municipal Emergency Management events.
- Assist Council to build community resilience by helping to identify risks and conduct community education and mitigation programs.
- Coordinate Municipal Recovery activities across the Social, Built, Economic, Natural and Aboriginal Culture and Healing environments.
- Assist with the identification of continuous improvement opportunities for Council’s Municipal Emergency Management systems, processes and relevant plans.
- Support and train deputy Municipal Recovery Managers and Assistant Fire Prevention Officers within Council.
**About You**
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Emergency Management and/or related discipline along with significant relevant experience [preferably in a Local Government setting] as well as qualifications as a Municipal Fire Prevention Officer. Relevant experience must include:
- Demonstrated ability to understand the Emergency Management Act (2013), State Emergency Management Plan (SEMP), Local Government Act (2020) and other relevant guidelines and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and analyse specific Emergency Management needs and lead implementation of solutions to address those needs.
- Relevant experience in developing and delivering community education programs for Emergency Management.
- Proven problem-solving abilities, strategic thinking and sound judgement to achieve organisational goals and objectives, minimise risk and create or take advantage of opportunities.
- Highly developed communication skills both written and verbal.
- Availability to respond 24 hrs as part of the Emergency Management Team.
- A current (and ongoing) valid Victorian Driver’s License, as well as satisfactory (and ongoing) Police Check supplied prior to offer of employment and commencement.
