**Georges River Council has an excellent opportunity for a Librarian Research and Community History to join our team, based in Hurstville.**
The Research and Community History team is responsible for the delivery of a community history service for internal and external customers and the management of the Local Studies collection and archive.
**About the Role**
The purpose of the Libarian Research and Community History is to develop and deliver research, training, programs, collections and other services to preserve the community history of the Georges River area. To work in partnership with other library teams, Council departments and community stakeholders to develop and ensure open access to Local Studies collections and information resources.
In this role you will:
- Deliver programs, training and general library duties at all Council libraries and other locations as required
- Undertake research, prepare reports, presentations, proposals and project plans
- Create and curate original content relating to community history for the Local Studies Collection, website, social media, publications and events
- Assist the ongoing maintenance of the Local Studies collection, Local Studies Management Plan and Disaster Preparedness Plan
- Establish, develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within Council and the community to collect and preserve the history of the Georges River area

- Tertiary qualifications in Library and Information Studies at librarian level, or an equivalent qualification, or working towards gaining qualifications
- Current Working with Children’s Check
- Demonstrated high level skills and experience in providing research or local studies services in public libraries or equivalent organisations
- Demonstrated skills in content creation and collection management
- Demonstrated high level skills and experience in providing research, including the proficient use of technology and digital resources
- Demonstrated high level skills and experience in providing quality customer service and working with customers from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated high level skills in written and verbal communication including effective business and historical writing, delivering presentations and training
- Demonstrated high level skills and experience in efficient time management, project planning and problem solving
- Demonstrated experience and consultation skills in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
**Desirable**
- Qualification, or specialisation, in History, Applied Research, Records and Archive Management
- Knowledge of Georges River Local Government Area
- Proficiency in speaking a community language
- Experience in conducting oral histories and public programs
