  • Part time (0.5FTE), Permanent
  • Classification: SCHADS Level 4 with a salary range of $88,169 - $94,888 per annum pro rata + Superannuation
  • Salary packaging arrangements providing tax benefits available for living and entertainment expenses increasing your take home income where part of your wage is paid tax free each pay, savings thousands in tax each year

About your new role

Community Care Coordinators-Lived Experience draw on their lived or living experience(s) of suicide and/or experiences of distress, to instil confidence and hope in others. Community Care Coordinators- Lived Experience will provide practical, emotional, social, and service access support that explores and responds to a person's needs through a process of mutual listening, learning, doing, being, belonging and healing.

What you will bring to the role

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience and understanding of working with people experiencing distress, with mental health challenges, suicidality and/or deliberate self-harm.
  • Personal lived/living experience of recovery as an individual or as family, friend or carer. Your recovery experience may be related to mental health, suicidal crisis, drugs and alcohol use or trauma
  • Willingness to identify or be identified by others as a professional with lived experience of recovery
  • Willingness to share and draw on lived experience purposefully in the role to instil confidence and hope in others about the journey of recovery
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with partner agencies and organisations to strengthen community-based prevention and intervention initiatives.
  • Strong emotional resilience including the ability to sit with discomfort, distress and people in crisis.
  • Experience liaising with external service providers, including specialist mental health services, GP's and other community-based services and organisations.
  • Ability to establish respectful professional relationships that have clear boundaries with consumers, staff and partner organisations.
  • Sound understanding of the personal, family, and social factors associated with suicidal ideation and attempts, including awareness of groups identified to be at increased risk of suicide.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and to respond to complex or competing tasks in a timely way.
  • Strong computer literacy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (police check) - disclosable outcomes considered
  • Current Working with Children Check - required before commencement of work
