About the role
We’re seeking a Principal Maintenance Manager to lead the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of maintenance services across our road network, ensuring contract performance, risk management, and technical assurance.

Day-to-day, you will:
Lead and develop a high-performing maintenance team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and inclusion.- Manage maintenance contracts and service providers to ensure high-quality, compliant, and timely delivery of works.- Oversee health, safety, and environmental performance, driving continuous improvement across all maintenance activities.- Plan and deliver the annual maintenance works program, ensuring alignment with budget, standards, and asset risk requirements.- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to support seamless maintenance operations.- Ensure all maintenance works meet technical assurance standards and align with the Code of Maintenance Standards.- Monitor and manage financial performance, including budgets, contractor claims, and reporting on expenditures.- Drive continuous improvement in maintenance delivery, documentation, and asset risk management.
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including:
A degree in Engineering or Business or Contract Management or equivalent experience of in a utilities or roads environment.- Contract Management experience in a complex maintenance environment- Experience working in a similar maintenance management position within the utilities, roads, transport or other related businesses.- Considerable experience dealing with complex stakeholder relationships both internally and externally- Extensive experience with HSE as applied to a contracted maintenance environment- Extensive experience of asset risk as it relates to complex infrastructureWith a career at Transurban, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:
