About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Coastal Engineer to join our Sydney team at the Principal or Senior Principal level. This leadership role is ideal for someone who combines deep technical expertise with a passion for mentoring teams and driving business growth in the coastal and marine infrastructure sector.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead and oversee the delivery of complex coastal engineering projects, including shoreline protection, marine structures, and climate resilience initiatives.
- Provide high-level technical guidance, quality assurance, and risk management across multidisciplinary teams.
- Champion innovation and best practices in coastal modelling, design, and sustainability.
People Management
- Mentor and develop a team of coastal engineers and scientists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Support career development, succession planning, and resource allocation across projects.
- Promote diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing within the team.
Business Development
- Build and maintain strong client relationships across government, private, and international sectors.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including proposal development and strategic partnerships.
- Represent the company at industry forums, conferences, and stakeholder engagements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Coastal Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- 15+ years of relevant experience, with a proven track record in technical delivery, team leadership, and client engagement.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent accreditation preferred.
- Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking.
