Hays is hiring for a leading council in Western Sydney for a 6-months contract with the possibility of going permanent.

**Your new role**
The position requires managing external providers in delivery of Internal Audit services and supervising and leading the audit team to ensure programmed audits are satisfactorily completed

Key responsibilities:

- Developing and implementing in conjunction with the Head of Audit, Risk and Improvement an annual risk
- based program of audits and business improvement initiatives aligning to Council
- s strategic directions
- Developing, planning, and executing an audit program consistent with the adopted Internal Audit Plan
- Developing audit programs that address key strategic risks, challenges, and process improvement opportunities, including specific management request to ensure the delivery of value-added service for Council
- Providing advice to directors and managers about implementing strategic and operational, risk and identified improvement opportunities
- Implementing and maintaining an audit methodology and quality assurance program for Internal Audit Monitoring the implementation progress of management actions on audit recommendations to ensure that Council achieves business results against Council’s strategic directions
- Providing secretarial support to the Audit, Risk, and Improvement Committee Facilitating risk management activities for the Executive Management Team
- Liaising with external providers of Internal Audit services to Council Maintaining an audit issues register for Council Issues.
- Assisting the Audit Team in conducting and completing a multiple audit projects at the same time
- Developing relevant, practical, and value-added audit recommendations
- Identifying areas of business improvement and areas of savings
- Managing the Audit, Risk, and Improvement Committee Work Plan
- Ensuring that external providers for audits managed by Internal Audit fulfil their contractual engagements Maintaining confidentiality and Communicating with staff at various levels within Council

**What you'll need to succeed**
Essential
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, Commerce or Business Studies and/or at least 5 years relevant practical experience
- COVID Vaccination (copy).
- Class C Driver’s License

Desirable
- Relevant postgraduate degree and/or Certified Internal Auditor designation
- Familiarity with accounting standards and practices and audit requirement applicable to local government
- Managing external providers in delivery of Internal Audit services
- Knowledge and practical skills in computer assisted audit techniques

**What you'll get in return**
- Salary $50 -$60 per hour + Superannuation
- 6-months Contract with perm possibility
- Western Sydney Location
