**The Role**
Under broad direction, the EL 1 - Assistant Director of Platform Services is responsible to the Director of DSOC for providing the ongoing management, maintenance and sustainment of systems and networks to support the cyber security operations of the Defence Security Operations Centre (DSOC).

As the AD Platform Services, you will be responsible for:

- Daily operation and maintenance of critical Defence Computer Network Defence systems
- Shaping and influencing the continued development and enhancement of these systems, including associated processes and governance practices
- Providing senior technical leadership and mentorship to Platform Engineers and work closely with ICT Cyber Security Projects to ensure the capability delivered meets DSOC’s requirements and transitions smoothly into service
- Actively Influencing whole of DSOC outcomes, including but not limited to planning of prioritisation, dependencies, roles and responsibilities, work take on and financial forecasting

The Defence Security Operations Centre (DSOC) is responsible for protecting Defence’s sensitive information and systems from some of the most sophisticated cyber threats across the globe. We are passionate about our mission and like to be an integral part of building an advanced capability in support of Defensive Cyber Operations and Defence. DSOC’s Platform Services team are critical for the enablement DSOC functionality through the maintenance and support of the platform components within the Enterprise Computer Network Defence system.

This is a highly secure, resilient, scalable and adaptable platform and as a technology stack, underpins the provision of critical services to DSOC analysts, enabling them to detect and defeat the cyber threats to Defence’s information and systems and ensure the high quality of Defensive Cyber Operations services provided by DSOC to Defence are upheld and exceeded where possible.
- Be highly motivated, enthusiastic and a capable leader able to manage a sophisticated on premise infrastructure platform
- Possess a strong technical background, enabling the provision of strategic direction and ability to shape future capability and deliver results
- Demonstrate superior communications skills and suitable experience leading technical teams
- Have personal resilience, ability to prioritise work and ability to co-ordinate and harness a workforce of SMEs, enabling effective outcomes in a high tempo and dynamic operational environment
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience with containerised environments (VMWARE), virtualisation technologies, automation, Windows and/or Red Hat Operating systems
- Be able to build and foster successful relationships with your clients and stakeholders. Your demonstrated ability to communicate and negotiate with influence across both internal and external stakeholders is critical.
