**The Role**
The APS 6 Cyber Vulnerability Assessment Specialist is accountable, under limited direction, to perform complex technical security investigations within an integrated workforce. They will have a demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislative and Government practices and guidelines.

The successful applicant will:

- Work independently with reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes;
- Be responsible for ensuring that all identified breaches in information security are promptly managed according to Defence policies and procedures;
- Be responsible for leading a team and have accountability for setting work priorities and managing workflows, with the expectation of building team capability through coaching, feedback and development of team members;
- Be expected to exercise the associated people and financial management responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes;
- Have a considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will be expected to liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex and sensitive issues; and
- Be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve Defence outcomes.

**About our Team**
ICT Security Branch plays a leading role in securing, assuring and defending Defence’s systems to support Defence’s mission. We are a multi-disciplined team consisting of APS, ADF and contractors that work with all Groups and Services to support the protection of Defence information system capabilities.

The Directorate of Cyber Security Assessments and Authorisation is responsible in performing Cyber Risk Assessment, Vulnerability Assessments and Penetration Testing, Supply Chain Risk Assessment, and technical evaluations of hardware and software products, to verify and validate our security posture. The Directorate supports a wide customer base across all Defence Groups and Services and collaborates closely with other government agencies and international partners.

The Cyber Security Vulnerability Assessments Team is responsible for conducting vulnerability assessments for systems across Defence Groups and Services. These include customer engagement, security assessment planning, and reviewing the majority of system documentation, and contributing to the development of Cyber Security Assessment reports.
- Have demonstrated experience of relevant cyber security frameworks and policies relating to Australian government ICT systems;
- Possess well-developed organisational and comprehensive analytical skills;
- Demonstrate an understanding of the security features and capabilities of hardware products;
- Have demonstrated experience in presenting/explaining systems security, strength and weaknesses;
- Have highly developed communication and stakeholder relationship management skills;
- Have demonstrated ability to work under limited direction, with the proven ability to manage competing priorities to a high standard of accuracy, within allocated timeframes; and
- Be flexible, self-motivated and eager to learn in a fast paced environment.
