**About the Department of Education**

**The Role**
You will be a member of the Branch that provides strategic advice on assessment policy; manages the Australian Government’s assessment role; and leads regional schools’ policy development and implementation, to improve the measurement of school outcomes. The Branch is comprised of four teams, and we are seeking to fill vacancies across all teams.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the Assistant Director position may include:

- Working collaboratively with others in the Branch to deliver high quality work supporting regional and national assessment policy and the evidence base that underpins school policy decisions.
- Representing the Australian Government in multijurisdictional working groups that advise on national reporting, measurement or assessments.
- Engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including state and/or territory governments and key education research institutions whose work impacts on students.
- Providing strategic advice and briefing material for the Executive and the Minister.
- Researching and analysing school assessment and youth transitions data to provide analysis, insights and advice about implications for Australian students, schools and education policy.
- Assisting in the development of regional and equity-based school education policy and management of initiatives.
