**About the role**
As a key member of our State Leadership Team, first and foremost, you will be a natural leader. You will have a strong entrepreneurial spirit and foster an open work culture that is in line with our values.
Leading from the front, the State Sales Manager is responsible for the leadership and development of their team consisting of Territory Specialist and Key Account Sales Managers. You will work closely with your team in overseeing customer selection, the development of the sales pipeline and the subsequent achievement of sales and margin budgets.
You’ll be a self-starter, who can readily create rapport with people at all levels whilst keeping sight of the bigger picture.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Responsible for the creation of the state sales strategy, encompassing the sales and margin growth of the sales team.
- Responsible for regular review of the team’s customer portfolio to ensure an optimal mix of Growth, New, Reactivate and Keep customers to ensure targets are met.
- Actively works on sales skill development of the team respecting Rexel Sales Excellence techniques.
- Carries out Performance and Development Reviews with each team member as well as regular field coaching sessions
- Uses CRM as the ‘go to” tool to review team performance.
- Collaborates with the State General Manager and suppliers to develop innovative offers for sales team to present to customers.
- Building strategic partnerships with key suppliers to drive sales and profit growth.
**A bit about you**
- Proven experience at the senior management level, with a track record in successful leadership/sales roles and driving business growth across a multi-site network.
- Minimum of 5 years B2B sales experience, specifically in key strategic account development utilising a solution sales approach.
- The ability to manage clear/consistent performance standards, handle performance problems decisively and objectively, and provide guidance and assistance to improve performance
- Wholesaling, trades or building/construction industry experience
- Instilling the company values on branch staff and network (One Rexel)
