**Who we’re looking for**:
The objective of the Digital Squads Mobile App Technical lead is to be responsible of the technical delivery and platforms of our Virgin Australia & Velocity Frequent Flyer Mobile Apps. The role also extends to leadership of our mobile app squad developers and testers who currently maintain and delivers features in our hybrid iOS & Android apps which is aimed to delight and engage the users experience.

The role would work in harmony with our Digital Product Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Scrummasters & Architects on our product road map, technical & architectural decisions. This role is highly critical to the success of our digital strategy and only strong app development specialists with native iOS and Android hands on experience with strong product leadership will be considered for the role.

**What you’ll be doing**:

- Ensure all activities are managed within established budgets
- Ensure that we reduce duplication and encourage re-use and shared environments
- Ensure that all projects meet performance standards and comply with relevant safety standards
- Ensure all code compliance and CD/CI practices are adhered to
- Ensure all security and SDLC guidelines are adhered to
- Ensure quality code at scale is delivered by the team writing clean, readable and performant code and ensuring adequate integration and unit tests to ensure a bug-free code base
- Provide technical oversight and management of all development resources
- Work closely with solution/enterprise architects and cloud engineers to be able to provide up to date and accurate technological advice to the engineering and development and support teams
- Translate technology realities into simple terms for non-technical stakeholders
- Be the technical point of contact for any mobile app queries
- Drive an innovative and passionate team culture that collaborates and is open with all others
- Assist development team members to meet day to day operational and project management objectives
- Engage as an active member of the team and the broader Department with an achievement orientated attitude that reflects the vision, values and customer focus

**You’ll be great in this role if you have**:

- Degree in a relevant area such as computer science or software engineering
- Experience leading or being a senior in a team that has shipped quality native mobile apps
- Experience in iOS Mobile App development with Realm, Core Data
- Experience in Android Mobile App development using Kotlin / Android Studio
- Experience working with API consumption experience preferably AWS
- Strong analytic, teamwork and collaboration skills to lead discussions and help the team reach consensus
- Enthusiastic and passionate with a can-do attitude
- High level of written and oral communication skills to assist in management of offshore development resource
- Ability to deliver high quality software engineering practices and guidance to team members
- Experience with agile development methodologies specifically SCRUM
- Experience in working in a DevOps culture and practice including continuous integration, testing and deployment and experience implementing CI/CD practices, tools.

**Desirable skills**:

- DevOps training / certification - Agile training
- Eye for design and UX and the ability to work with designers to develop dynamic user experience
- Aviation / airline technology experience
- Experience in the following (Functional Programming, Java, Objective C and SSO)
- Test Driven Development
- Migration projects - moving from a hybrid app to a fully native app
