**The Role**
Your role as an EL 1 Assistant Director within the Industry Engagement team (IET) is accountable for the following:

- The management of Defence Industry Advisers at the state/territory level to meet ODIS key objectives in accordance with the ODIS Business Plan, including management of:

- Allocation of referrals
- Request for approvals for DIAs to attend industry events/engagements
- Timesheet/expense approvals
- The coordination of Stakeholder Engagement at the state/territory level, including:

- State Government
- Local Government
- Industry Associations
- Tertiary Institutions
- CASG SPOs
- Prime Contractors
- SMEs of note in the Defence supply chain
- Building and sustaining relationships with a network of key personnel internally and externally in accordance with broader strategic objectives led by IET Strategic Planning Director
- The co-ordination of service delivery within state/territory jurisdiction - as discussed and agreed with IET Director Operational Delivery including:

- Reviewing state/territory IET performance and focus on identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
- Establishing clear plans and timeframes for IET program implementation and outlines specific activities in regional areas
- Preparing Ministerial and parliamentary business briefs and correspondence as tasked
- Monitoring program progress in state/territory, adjusting plans as required and achieving quality outcomes and ensuring documentation procedures are maintained
- Reporting information of interest to ODIS and Defence senior management, including:

- Undertaking objective, systematic analysis, drawing accurate conclusions based on evidence and recognizing the links between interconnected issues.
- Providing input in response to Ministerial taskings
- Status reports and business intelligence for CASG programs and Defence Prime information requests

The Office of Defence Industry Support, ODIS, is part of Australian Industry Capability Division within Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group, Department of Defence. ODIS’s purpose is to work with businesses, industry, associations and state and territory governments to help build a globally competitive and sustainable Australian defence industry that can meet Defence’s capability requirements.

ODIS is designed to help transform the Defence/industry relationship and to provide guidance on new industry development, critical skilling and export programs. ODIS also helps facilitate access to Defence’s innovation programs for small to medium enterprises.
