**Description**:
Purpose
To provide mentoring, support and guidance to apprentices and trainees to complete their apprenticeship or traineeship leading to an improvement in retention and completions across the program.
**Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
Meet with allocated apprentices and trainees to understand their barriers or issues
Identify and assess risk factors to determine apprentices requiring support
Create an Apprenticeship Maintenance Plan (AMP) for each apprenticeship and update accordingly
Liaise with other stakeholders, including employers and parents, to get their input on the AMP
Where required, host meetings or mediation with employers and apprentices to achieve positive outcomes where differences arise
Build relationships and undertake activity with stakeholders such as schools, GTOs, RTOs, job search providers
Undertake a range of administrative duties associated with the position including reports and mentoring activity
**Skills and Experiences**:
Personal Attributes
Highly developed interpersonal skills - ability to build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders, gain their confidence and build a sense of mutual understanding of needs and objectives
Desire to work within a client service organisation
Ability to operate in a highly ethical manner in accordance with the AA contractual requirements, client expectations and The Apprenticeship Community high quality and performance orientated culture
Natural ability to negotiate, mediate and problem-solve
Commitment to community development and the securing of employment outcome
Required Experience
Demonstrated experience working in a mentoring or coaching capacity
Experience in social sciences, behavioural sciences, youth work or another community-based discipline
Experience in leading, motivating and communicating with a broad range of people including youth
Demonstrated ability to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to community development philosophy and practice
Proven experience in planning, initiating, developing and managing mentoring options
Demonstrated negotiating, mediating and problem-solving skills
Well-developed oral communication skills (including presentation, influencing and negotiation) and written communication skills (including the production of well-formatted reports and documentation)
Knowledge of the local labour market conditions and opportunities
**Qualifications**:
Certificate IV in Workplace Mentoring or prepared to undertake the qualification within the first year of employment
