**Summary/Objective**
API is seeking a seasoned professional to join our company in the role of a Data Analyst. The position will be based in our Sydney, Mascot Office Location. The Data Analyst will utilize advanced algorithms to turn data into information and information into insight.

**Essential Functions**
- Interpret data and analyze results using statistical techniques.
- Analyze airline spending and create risk assessment plans utilizing Smith Travel Research market reports, market trends and conditions. Develop reporting for tracking key market changes.
- Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain internal databases/data systems.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
- Implement improvements to the sourcing process to best serve our clients.

**Competencies**
- Ability to build macros in Excel and organize data in Access.
- Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc.), databases (SQL etc.), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks)
- Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc.)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
- Great attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and work as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced corporate environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Impeccable integrity and a strong work ethic.

**Position Type and Expected Hours of Work**
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, normal core business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

**Required Education and Experience**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics
- 2+ years’ Data mining experience
- 4+ years in a data analyst role
- Proven experience as a data analyst or business data analyst
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Proficiency in Salesforce platform preferred
