Executive Manager, 1st Line Risk

This role will support our Customer Assist Business. The Customer Assist Business is responsible for completing all collections, financial hardship assessments and recoveries actions for Westpac’s Consumer and Small Business customers. The team support our customers with a variety of financial solutions when our customers are struggling with their loan repayments. This is a highly regulated part of the Westpac group, where the teams need to meet many different regulatory requirements.

You will be part of the Customer Services and Technology Business Control and Monitoring, a central team responsible for enabling business success in keeping the bank safe. We drive a risk mindset in technology and business operations so everyone has the capability to make informed decisions. We are responsible for evaluating, directing and monitoring 1st line risk activities to ensure risk across Customer Solutions is kept within the risk appetite established for the Westpac Group. You will be enabling this by providing risk leadership to Westpac’s Assist Business & Leadership Team.

**As a Business Control and Monitoring Executive Manager **_, _**a typical day might include the following**:

- You will be developing and leading risk management strategies, evaluating potential risks and exposures in the Assist business, and determining how to effectively minimise those risks and develop procedures that can be implemented.
- Working closely with business and/or project owners to influence a strong risk culture e.g. conducting risk workshops, providing guidance on risk assessments, processes, controls and strategies, overseeing risk remediation activities against appropriate timelines.
- Drafting and presenting on management reports for formal governance forums, making sure risks are articulated clearly and the right information gets to the right people for the right decisions to be made.
- Working closely with project and operational teams to ensure projects with technology solutions are compliant, appropriately designed in line with Wesptac’s control framework and delivered to minimise operational risk
- Partnering with relevant compliance, regulatory affairs, technology, risk and portfolio leadership to enable more effective risk service to projects and improved risk outcomes for the bank

**What do I need?**
- 15+ years’ experience in large and complex change/program environments preferably financial services
- Significant knowledge and experience in risk and regulatory landscape, operational IT, business knowledge and operational risk and compliance frameworks
- Adaptive influencing and relationship building skills across senior executives and peers
- Strong skills in planning, project management and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure with shifting priorities in a dynamic work environment
- People Leadership experience
