Do work that matters
Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) manages relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors. This also includes providing Economic Insights and Research to wholesale and retail investors, ensuring there are appropriate data and platforms services supporting the various business units withing IB&M and pioneering AI. IB&M also encompasses CommBank IQ which provides privacy treated data insights to institutional, government and business banking clients.
As a Line 1 Risk Business Partner, you will work in partnership with our business units and leadership team to install comprehensive oversight and governance within their risk environment, including implementation of frameworks and controls.
We are part of the broader Institutional Business & Markets (IB&M) Non-Financial Risk & Conduct (NFRC) team, to ensure effective practices and to optimise the 1st Line of Accountability risk outcomes across the broader IB&M business.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide timely, pragmatic risk advice across operations, data, and technology.
- Identify and manage operational risks, issues, and incidents, including root cause analysis and control improvements.
- Lead the Risk & Compliance Self-Assessment process.
- Design and implement effective controls for new and changing business processes.
- Support governance forums and deliver high-quality risk reporting.
- Collaborate with Line 2 and Line 3 to ensure robust risk outcomes and issue remediation.
- Champion the application of risk frameworks across IB&M.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in operational risk, governance, and compliance within financial services.
- Exposure to AI, data products, or institutional banking is highly valued.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to balance commercial outcomes with sound risk management.
- CA or other relevant risk management certifications are highly valued
