As part of the wider Shared Service team and reporting to the Billing & Banking Manager, the **Banking Officer **manages the timely receipt and allocation of customer account payments received via EFT, Cheque and Credit Card. They support the Shared Services Team to deliver their objectives by ensuring all processing is accurate and completed in a timely manner.
**In this role you will be responsible for**:
- Allocation of direct deposit payments from daily bank statements
- Receipt and allocation of daily cheques
- Processing and allocation of credit card payments
- Following up unidentified customer payments
- Allocation of suspense receipts to customer accounts
- Merchant chargeback enquiries
- Reconciliations of general ledgers
- Ad hoc tasks as required by management and the business as and when required
- Learn, interpret and understand all essential policies and procedures
**Skills & Experience Required**:
- High volume processing experience, particularly in a Corporate environment
- Basic accounting knowledge is essential
- Well-developed and professional written and verbal communication skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Reasonable data entry speed
- Ability to work to deadlines and within strict timeframes
- Customer focussed
- Excel experience preferred
- Experience using SAP preferred
