Accounts Officer

**Position Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Process and manage accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Prepare and process invoices, credit notes related to freight forwarding and logistics services.
- Assist with monthly and year-end closing processes, including preparing financial reports.
- Liaise with internal teams and customers to resolve billing issues, discrepancies, and logistics-related financial queries.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, freight forwarding industry regulations, and relevant financial guidelines.
- Assist with audits and tax-related matters as required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all freight forwarding activities.
- Prepare accurate financial statements and tax returns for the company in compliance with applicable regulations and accounting standards.
- Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, FBT, Payroll Tax, and Workers Compensation Forms. Ensure timely and accurate submissions.
- Act as the primary point of contact with clients for accounting and taxation matters, addressing their queries and concerns, and providing guidance on tax planning and compliance.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant internal controls, policies, procedures, and accounting standards, ensuring that clients adhere to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate the audit process for the company, including the preparation of necessary financial documentation and schedules.
- Assist the company in generating and interpreting financial reports, offering insights into their financial health and performance.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data in accounting systems, making certain that all financial transactions are recorded correctly.
- Review and analyse company’s budgets and financial forecasts to help aligning financial objectives with business strategies.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date files, including financial statements, tax returns, and relevant correspondence, in line with best practices and regulatory requirements.

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accounts or bookkeeping role, preferably within logistics, freight forwarding, or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and accounting software (experience with Expedient or similar software preferred).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with numbers accurately.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

**Desirable**:

- Accounting degree or relevant qualifications
- Solid understanding of freight forwarding and logistics processes, including air and ocean freight, customs clearance, and project forwarding.
- Experience in freight forwarding and logistics

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
