**The Role**
Located at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Williamtown, the Air Warfare Systems Program Office (AWSPO) leads and manages a program portfolio of highly complex projects and products in support of Air Force capability. AWSPO, in partnership with industry, deliver Lead-in-Fighter, Advanced Training and Test Environment and Special Operations Air Warfare Capabilities in support of Air Combat Group and Air Warfare Centre.

As the APS 6 Quality and Technical Assurance Manager, you will have an essential role in assuring the Quality and Technical Assurance of these systems to support Defence’s capability.

In this role, you will be part of a diverse team who deliver aviation technical assurance, system safety assurance and AWSPO quality system assurance activities in a governance organisation. The role requires someone who has sound technical experience, thorough knowledge of the Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) or civil equivalent and system safety; and will be adept at operating in an aviation technical regulatory environment. You will be able to communicate clearly while setting strong performance and behavioural standards. The role is responsible for planning and conducting audits and providing technical and system safety advice, to achieve assurance outcomes. The ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with a network of stakeholders internally and externally is key to the role.

Key duties you will be responsible for but not limited to are:

- Undertake product technical assurance, which can include system safety, of both internal management systems and Industry Partners’ engineering and maintenance frameworks and systems, including audit preparation, leading audit visits, post audit reporting, corrective action follow-up and close out activities;
- Undertake quality system auditing activities internally to AWSPO, in accordance with ISO 9001, including audit preparation, leading audits, post audit reporting, corrective action follow-up and close out activities;
- Perform on-going technical, which can include system safety, surveillance activities of internal management systems and Industry Partners’ engineering and maintenance frameworks and systems;
- Facilitate effective interfaces between internal and external organisations including Industry Partners and aviation safety authorities. Providing aviation technical regulatory and continuous improvement advice as required.

Within Aerospace Systems Division, AWSPO leads and manages a portfolio of projects and products in support of Air Force and Navy capability. This includes the management of acquisition projects in various phases of the capability life cycle including the AIR5438 Phase 2 Lead-In Fighter Capability Upgrade program. AWSPO, in partnership with industry, also manage three sustainment products: the 127 Hawk Lead-In Fighter, which supports air combat operations through aircraft and off-aircraft systems, delivering aircrew introductory fighter training; Advanced Training and Test Environment (ATTE), which improves Air Force and Navy lethality and survivability through the delivery of a threat representative training environment; and the Special Operations Air Warfare Program, supporting through the coordination, provisioning and sustainment of combat equipment.

- Relevant experience and understanding of quality system auditing requirements and principles as it relates to ISO 9001.
- Demonstrated ability to develop complex key technical assurance documentation and reports as it relates to aviation safety regulations and ISO 9001.
- Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, including being able to influence and negotiate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
