Dutch all-day eatery and bar seeking an experienced hands-on Manager with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.

We are 2 years old and are about to alter our concept slightly and offer a more polished modern menu for dinner whilst retaining the casual friendly welcoming vibe we have become known for in a short space of time.

Situated on busy Sydney Road in Brunswick, Mokum is the only dedicated Dutch café and bar in Victoria.

Mokum is a sentimental nickname given to the city of Amsterdam and has come to mean ‘safe place’ with the city of Amsterdam widely considered a place where differences are celebrated, and people have been welcomed from all over the world. The culinary scene in Amsterdam also reflects this diversity.

Our Mokum aims to be a ‘safe place’ where people from all walks of life are welcomed warmly and made to feel at home, and our menu celebrates traditional Dutch flavours alongside the flavours and dishes from the Surinamese, Indonesian, Antillean, Turkish and Moroccan communities calling Amsterdam home today.

We focus on quality ingredients and make almost everything in-house. This includes roasting our own coffee and making our own cakes and treats. We also pride ourselves on our extensive range of Dutch and Belgian beers, along with an extensive list of local and imported wines and cocktails designed using liqueurs made in-house from spices and flavours commonly used in Dutch desserts.

Our venue seats around 60 guests at any one time with an additional bar area for up-to 15 more guests. We also have a dedicated function space upstairs which can accommodate a further 30-40 guests.

The Venue Manager will be working alongside the Owner/Director, Head Chef and Restaurant Manager and will be responsible for directing all aspects of service and supporting a small FoH team to deliver exceptional experience for our guests.

It is **essential**that you have:

- At least **5 years of experience** in a similar senior management role
- Hospitality experience working across **cafes, restaurants and bars**
- Demonstrated **leadership experience**with a focus on staff development
- Knowledge and passion for cocktails & **European beers** & wine
- Understanding of the particular requirements a small independent business has
- Exceptional service skills and guest focus
- Solid understanding of management practices
- **Hands-on**, highly adaptable and able to perform in high-pressure service periods
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to demonstrate initiative
- Understanding of financial budgets and achieving set targets
- Experience using POS, reservations, Microsoft Excel and Word and other related software
- Excellent communication and presentation
- Ability and willingness to work a flexible roster including weekends, evenings and public holidays
- Knowledge of Dutch language, cuisine and culture
- Experience as a barista and ability to make consistent latte art

Pay: $70,000.00 - $84,000.00 per year
