
El 1 - Assistant Director, Service Operations, Chief Health Officer Support Unit

The Assistant Director (AD) is required to develop and maintain governance frameworks to support best practice in managing a geographically dispersed contracted clinical adviser workforce and supporting Senior Executive Services staff in delivering strategic objectives across the Division. The Assistant Director provides assistance to the Director in planning, monitoring and delivering work priorities this includes; project management, change and business analysis, managing resources, mentoring and supervising subordinate staff, and working with business areas to implement and improve service delivery.
**Duties**
In accordance with the principles of workplace diversity, Work Health and Safety, participative work practices, APS values and APS Employment Principles:
- Develop and maintain effective administrative governance practices and coordinate activities to support implementation of practices.
- Assist the Director Service Operations to manage, deliver and monitor projects on strategic initiatives.
- Negotiate, engage and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver projects, program services to build service delivery capabilities and promote service delivery.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on operational, policy and program issues.
- Work collaboratively with Senior Advisers across Health and Compensation Branches and business areas to support service delivery of clinical advice to health programs and services.
- Act as a contact point and liaison for business areas and Clinical Advisers.
- Provide administrative support to the Deputy CHO, Principal Medical Adviser
- Compensation and Senior Clinical Advisers who provide clinical expertise and clinical leadership to the Clinical Adviser workforce.
- Responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of the CHO Information Portal on the SharePoint site.
- Manage induction requirements for new starters in the CHO Division. Including, on and off boarding the contracted clinical adviser workforce.
- Provide high-level program advice, procedural guidance and interpretation to staff including strategic advice to the Executive where appropriate.
- Prepare a range of written material including business cases, project management documentation, reports, executive briefs and corporate documentation as required.
- Lead, mentor and supervise subordinate staff to promote a high performing team with a culture focused toward continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with CHO Executive staff in responding to requests for information.
- Identify opportunities to improve data and reporting product offerings.
- Other duties as directed by CHO Senior Executive staff.
**Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
