**The Role**
This role directly supports the safe storage and handling of explosives by the Australian Defence Force across Australia. The APS 5 Explosive Ordnance Licensing Officer interprets and applies policies and procedures relating to the safe storage and handling of all guided weapons and explosive ordnance natures for Defence. This role will involve the creation, amendment and cancellation of explosive licences as well as the preparation of risk assessments and Safeguarding Maps.
This role will involve occasional travel to Defence Bases and Establishments across Australia to conduct licensing reviews.
**About our Team**
The Directorate of Logistics - Explosive Ordnance is responsible for the national storage and distribution of explosive ordnance for the ADF. A key element of the Directorate of Logistics - Explosive Ordnance is the Explosive Ordnance Licensing Authority (EOLA) responsible for authorising the safe storage and handling of explosive ordnance within Defence. Explosive Limit Licences are issued in accordance with Defence Policies and Procedures.
EO Licensing consist of a small team located at Defence Establishment Orchard Hills in Western Sydney. The team issue licenses to all explosive storage facilities within Australia and maintain over 70 Safeguarding Maps that act as a planning tool to protect the utility of EO storage facilities from public encroachment.
EOLA are also involved with planning and site selection of the building and refurbishment of explosive storage facilities within Defence.
Applicants will be provided with on the job training to develop them in the role. The ability to identify hazards and risk mitigations in the WHS context would be well regarded.
A high level of computer literacy is required, with experience in Microsoft Office Suite essential and familiarity with AutoCAD would be beneficial.
