**THE ROLE**

The Deputy Manager, Operations supports the Manager, Operations and Capability by overseeing systems and processes, training, surge and rostering arrangements and strategic projects which support the 24/7 readiness of the Department of Fairness, Families and Housing to meet its operational responsibilities during emergencies, in particular for the Personal Hardship Assistance Program. The Deputy Manager, Operations engages with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure arrangements are in place which meet government requirements and support community well-being. The Deputy Manager, Operations may be required to undertake the duties of the Manager,Operations and Capability during periods when the Manager is absent. During incidents and emergencies, the Deputy Manager, Operations undertakes various operational roles including the role of Deputy Commander

**ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE**
- Work with senior management to set and achieve key performance indicators and standards.
- Identify and actively manage emerging issues and areas of risk for government, department and the community.
- Develop, implement and ensure continuous improvement of strategies, systems and processes that for effective and efficient delivery of the department's emergency management responsibilities.
