The Rural and Remote Aboriginal Cultural Wellbeing Support Worker will work within the Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing Hub based team to deliver health services to visitors, patients, escorts, and community that attend the Hub from Rural and Remote Aboriginal Communities. The position will support the Aboriginal Health Practitioners and Nursing staff to deliver culturally appropriate supportive activities that enhances the healing journey and provide a culturally safe and interactive environment for the patient and their escorts and family members.

They will act as a cultural agent and assist the Hub to improve the patient care experience and to deliver activities that support their connection to culture and Country in the Hub. The role will also act as a cultural facilitator assisting the team to deliver clinical care and administrative staff to develop culturally safe patient practice, consumer engagement and a traditional healing environment in the Hub with support.

The Rural and Remote Aboriginal Cultural Wellbeing Support Worker will develop and maintain strong working relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, relevant health providers, community groups, relevant organisations, and agencies, in order to improve the patient experience and assist the Hub team to work effectively for improved health outcomes for Rural and Remote Aboriginal patients.

The Rural and Remote Aboriginal Cultural Wellbeing Support Worker must be known, respected and connected within Aboriginal communities and demonstrate an ability to work in a culturally sensitive and accountable manner, with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities and non-Aboriginal individuals, whilst maintaining a high degree of cultural integrity and confidentiality.
