**About the role**
We have an opportunity for a **Crime Scene Officer (Specialist)** to be part of our Fingerprint Operations team within the Forensic Evidence and Technical Services Command. The Crime Scene Officer's (Specialist) role is to identify and examine forensic evidence and provide expert evidence regarding their examinations to the judiciary. Some roles may require the collection of forensic evidence from both deceased and living persons and/or presumptive testing of drugs and sub-sampling of bulk drugs in a laboratory environment.
Forensic Evidence and Technical Services employees who may have contact with crime scenes or related exhibits as a part of their duties, and visitors to FETS facilities where these examinations take place, can be asked to provide a DNA sample for elimination purposes, to be included on the Quality Assurance Register (QAR) maintained by the Forensic and Analytical Science Services (FASS) laboratory.
Employees seeking employment into operational or laboratory roles must provide a DNA sample on commencement of their employment. Failure to provide a DNA reference sample may result in the employee’s offer of appointment being withdrawn or their employment being annulled.
The successful applicant must hold current Australian Forensic Field Sciences Accreditation Board (AFSAB) Fingerprint Expert Certification.
Applicants must hold a current driver’s licence with no traffic offences recorded on their driving history within the last six (6) months or NSW Police Force Bronze Certification.
