**The Role**
This position is responsible, under broad direction, for managing the ANC youth safety and protection assurance in accordance with the Defence Youth Protection Management System (DYPMS). The role is accountable to perform and achieve complex to very complex quality assurance work within an integrated workforce.

They will require an in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements in support of Youth related endeavours. The position is responsible for the management of reporting systems, including notifiable and reportable ANC youth protection events, incident reports, safety incidents and youth protection inquiries.

The role is responsible for actively managing key stakeholder relationships (within and external to Defence) and will be required to identify relevant stakeholders’ expectations and concerns to develop and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes.

The Royal Australian Navy, through the Australian Navy Cadets Directorate, sponsors the Australian Navy Cadets (ANC) which is a volunteer community organisation designed to develop young Australians. The ANC has a maritime focus and promotes interest in the Navy within the Australian community. The Directorate provides advice, oversight, governance, training and resources to assist the ANC in their safe, effective and efficient delivery of developmental activities to Cadets. The ANC operates throughout Australia and provides the most tangible link between the Navy and the Australian people.

In partnership with local communities, and led by enthusiastic and dedicated adult volunteers, a well governed ANC organisation exists to provide a safe, values based, meaningful and rewarding personal development opportunities for Cadets. Our role is not to command and lead the ANC; rather it is to empower, enable and support, in every way possible, those responsible for leading, training and administering Navy Cadets.
