OVERVIEW
The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) is one of the world’s leading performing arts academies, delivering the most comprehensive range of performing arts training in Australia. Our students develop their skills on-stage as an actor, dancer or musician, or behind the scenes in production, design or arts management.
WAAPA’s Bachelor of Performing Arts is seeking experienced, inspirational lecturers to join the team at a pivotal moment for WAAPA at Edith Cowan University.
WAAPA will move into its brand-new world-class city campus in Yagan Square in the Perth CBD in 2026 as part of an exciting expansion plan. ECU’s CBD campus will bring together teaching and research in the areas of Creative Industries, Law, Business and Technology. This will be where innovative thinkers, adaptive learners and global citizens meet to develop into the leaders of tomorrow. This is unequivocally the most exciting time of all to join the university as it embarks on this further growth and transformational journey.
THE ROLE
WAAPA is looking to appoint a 0.6 lecturer in Set & Costume Design.
You will also need to be able to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills and have strong written skills including the ability to produce clear reports as well as the ability to work as part of a team. You will be student focussed, building a supportive and creative environment for students to develop their practical skills, with a strong commitment to preparing students for sustained employment.
SELECTION CRITERIA
**QUALIFICATIONS**: Relevant tertiary qualifications as defined above
**TEACHING EXPERIENCE**: A proven track-record as a lecturer in Production & Design
**CURRICULUM**: Demonstrated capacity to develop, coordinate and review teaching curriculum
**ADMINISTRATION**: Demonstrated experience in working efficiently and confidently with teaching-related administration such as curriculum documentation, Canvas or similar teaching technology, budget management, marks and assessment management, or producing creative projects with young and emerging artists.
**PROFESSIONAL STANDING**: Evidenced experience as a practitioner
**INDUSTRY CONNECTIONS**: Demonstrated capacity to build strategic networks and collaborative relationships with industry.
**EQUITY**: Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion.
Academic staff are expected to achieve and maintain the outcomes outlined in the ECU Academic Staff Performance Expectations and Outcomes (ASPEO) Framework and applicable Academic Leadership role statement.
BENEFITS & REMUNERATION
This position attracts a remuneration of $80,938 to $108,498 pa pro-rata (ALEVA) or $113,918 to $134,596 pa pro-rata (ALEVB) plus 17% superannuation.
