**About Us**:
Coral House is a Positive Learning Centre that supports students from 11 South East Queensland schools who have complex social, emotional and learning needs. Coral House supports students from Prep to Year Two. The program has a strong relational focus; embedding parent/carer support to students' learning, wellbeing and behaviour; including attendance, engagement, relationships with others; academic achievement and behaviour. The Head of Student Engagement at Coral House will work collaboratively with families, schools, educational services and community organisations to build the students' capacity to self-regulate. The program is a student-focused approach that aims to meet the needs of each individual student and promote positive and confident transitions into and through schooling.

**About the Role**: Coral House offers a 9-week placement to students. Initially, students attend the program for four days and return to their base school for one day a week (Wednesday). During this time, the Head of Student Engagement will work intensively with students to develop and enhance their personal and social skill capabilities. It is important that students attend their base school for one day a week to practise these skills at their school as well as maintaining connection to staff and peers. As students develop these skills, they will gradually be released back to their school. The Head of Student Engagement will also be responsible for visiting schools and providing feedback to the school's leadership team and classroom teacher.
Below is a typical schedule for attendance at Coral House.Week Placement Days
- Week 1-5 (4 days at Coral House and 1 day at base school (Wednesday))
- Week 6-7 (3 days at Coral House and 2 days at base school)
- Week 8 (2 days at Coral House and 3 days at base school)
- Week 9 (1 day at Coral House and 4 days at base school)

Student returns to base school full time.
At Gaven State School, the program has access to two learning spaces. The first space replicates a classroom setting for students to develop the skills needed to be a learner. The second space is used to develop social skills with structured games and group activities. Coral House also offers a kitchen space and a gardening program to support alternative learning.
