About the role
In your role as Head of Department - International Studies you will significantly contribute to a high expectations and performance culture through strong Instructional Leadership to focus on continuous improvement in student performance. This will be underpinned by high impact teaching practices reflecting the school's pedagogical framework (ASoT) and aligning with the school's priorities.As Head of Department - International Studies you will be instrumental in engaging and influencing Deputy Principals, Heads of Departments and all teachers to improve cultural perspectives within the curriculum through leading the International Student Program and Languages Department. You will be focused on liaising with curriculum leaders to support classroom teachers to be inclusive of international students and lead the Languages curriculum in Japanese, Spanish and Auslan.
As the Head of Department you will have responsibility for the following:

- Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.Be futures oriented and strategic.
- Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, community groups and international markets.
- Lead and manage the school's International Student Program with the focus on strategic direction for the return of international students and study tours.
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department and Education Queensland International.
- Oversee the management of the Homestay Program and line manage support staff within the International Department.
- Lead the promotion of our school to an international market.
- Lead curriculum in the Languages department in line with school and system initiatives.
- Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals.
