**About the Role**:
The Head of Department (Curriculum) will be passionate about driving a collaborative culture of learning, and supporting teachers and support staff to best meet the needs of our students, through a culture of collegial engagement and feedback. They will work collaboratively with the Leadership Team in leading staff to develop their knowledge and skills to drive school improvement through the lens of the Australian Curriculum as well as the school's signature pedagogies, focusing on improving student outcomes. As a lead learner, they will need to have a strong relational capability to quickly develop positive relationships between students, staff and the wider school community. They will have well developed strategic thinking and analytical skills to contribute to our school improvement agenda.
As Head of Department Curriculum, you will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
- Collaboratively develop and implement a whole school Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework (CARF)
- Co-lead the processes and support to build staff preparedness and understanding of the Australian Curriculum version 9 and its implementation in a special school setting
- Formalise collaborative planning processes that clearly outline expectations for the Teaching and Learning cycle
- Implement processes for collection and collaborative analysis of whole of school data to monitor the impact of school initiatives on student outcomes
- Continue to refine and embed whole-school moderation processes
- Work with the Leadership Team to develop a systematic and collaborative approach to planning, delivery, and assessment of senior secondary curriculum
- Further strengthen data literacy skills through a data driven case management process and support teacher use of High Impact Teaching Strategies
- Set high standards for student and staff performance and have a clear line of sight and presence in the classrooms
