Joiner - Commercial Office Furniture

The Joiner carries out work for the production and modification of Office furniture, working with particle board laminate and other material to produce furniture products. Takes initiative to optimise processes to drive productivity and innovation to maximise environmentally sustainable outcomes. Identifies and implements better ways of doing work in response to client needs. Leverages available technologies to continuously improve the effectiveness of business operations.

Ensures all crew are operating in a manner that ensures workplace health and safety across all work environments.

Joinery Workshop

Working with used office furniture and workstations, process joinery orders in the workshop to produce office workstations and furniture.

Maintain and operate workshop equipment, including, Panel saw and Englander, and book maintenance as required. Ensure all staff operating in the workshop are inducted. Supports the establishment of processes and systems. Supports the creation of process documentation as required. Drives improved efficiencies in the workshop.

As a qualified tradesperson (cabinet maker I joiner / shopfitter) reporting directly to the Operations Manager you will be engaged in the following:
Tasks & Responsibilities:

- Operating machines, including Panel Saw and Edge Bander
- Fitting together parts using glue and clamps
- Reinforcing and Trimming joints
- Both factory workshop work and on-site installation
- Interpret technical shop drawings and documentation
- Drives improved efficiencies in the workshop
- Defines and maintains standards for workshop products
- Using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment safely

Qualifications & Experience:

- Provide trade certificate and/or other qualifications
- Pro-active in taking ownership of responsibility and capable of decisive action
- Must possess time management skills and be able to work to tight deadlines and work well under pressure
- Experience in furniture/cabinet making an advantage
- Experience in solid woods, laminates and plywood substrates
- An eye for detail and quality workmanship
- The ability to interpret and understand plans, technical drawings and cutting lists
- The ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders on all levels
- Self-discipline and excellent time management skills
- Uncompromising commitment to quality workmanship and safety policies and procedures
- Be physically fit
- Positive attitude and "can-do" mentality
- The ability to" think outside of the square" and find solutions to design problems if they arise.

Safety

Ensures all crew are operating in a manner that ensures workplace health and safety across all work environments. Areas of focus include:

- WHS related policies and safe behaviour expectations are well understood by all crew members and sub-contractors
- Safety risks are actively identified, and appropriate action is taken to resolve
- Takes action to create and embed a safe and healthy culture that supports sustainable performance
- Actively leads safety discussions and role models safe work practices including completing site inductions, running toolbox talks, wearing correct PPE, manual handling procedures, calling out others demonstrating unsafe behaviour and ensuring a rapid response to safety issues.

Certifications
- Current Australian driver's license
- Construction Industry White card

The successful will have prior experience in the following roles
- Shopfitter
- Cabinet Maker
- Joiner
- Site Installer

Pay: $77,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
