**The Role**
We are seeking passionate, innovative and solution focused (APS 6) Environment and Sustainability Managers to take up various roles within the ACT Environment & Sustainability team.

The Environment and Sustainability Managers assists Defence achieve its Estate Stewardship objectives by:

- Provision of environment and heritage legislative, policy and technical advice;
- Implementation of Defence environmental policy and strategies;
- Oversight of land management activities on the Defence Estate;
- Environmental assessments and approvals of infrastructure projects and military activities;
- Environmental risk and incident management;
- Operating within an information and spatial management system;
- Undertaking a broad range of stakeholder engagement and liaison; and
- Leading and guiding other environment and sustainability team members.

**About our Team**
The ACT Environment & Sustainability team provide professional environmental advice in support of the Defence Environmental Strategy 2016-2036. The teams Purpose is to help Defence be a leader in sustainable environmental management to support the Australian Defence Force's capability to defend Australia and its national interests.
The team is based in Canberra ACT and operates as a collaborative network to achieve our environment and sustainability outcomes. The team also networks with environmental professionals across Defence to contribute National outcomes as required.

The team is part of East West Zone within Service Delivery Division of the Security and Estate Group and works within the Zone to achieve joint outcomes. You will be physically located at your nominated Defence Base, however this role will give you opportunities to visit numerous Defence properties and Training Areas within ACT and NSW
