Department Liaison Officer

**Key responsibilities
As Department Liaison Officer, you will specifically:
- Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Provide a single point of contact for the Minister's Office and the portfolio to collate and provide a rapid response to requests for information.
- Analyse issues to determine implications from a departmental perspective and facilitate appropriate responses in accordance with structured methods and guidelines.
- Manage an effective and immediate liaison between the Office of the Minister and the department by forward planning on known events and dealing efficiently with documents and subsequent approvals.
- Develop and sustain strong working relationships with the department to coordinate responses, manage emerging issues, prioritise and assist in implementing process improvements.
- Liaise with other government departments to guide and coordinate responses ensuring a whole-of-government/department focus.
- Accurately interpret and facilitate Ministerial office requests to assist the department in developing appropriate and timely responses, including managing sensitively and appropriately with confidential and contentious issues.
- Analyse correspondence, briefings and executive documents to ensure they meet the needs of the Minister's Office and comply with department procedures and policies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ensure the appropriate policies and protocols are implemented, and all relevant departmental staff are knowledgeable in Ministerial office requirements.
- Assist with phone calls from the public relating to youth justice issues and facilitate a response to the member of the public.
