We are looking for reliable, caring, willing to go above and beyond support workers to assist our participants and their families with day-to-day tasks. As a support worker, you will be required to meet with clients to assess their practical and emotional needs, and help them to live as independently as possible.
To ensure success as a support worker, you should have excellent interpersonal skills, a passion for helping others, and good leadership skills. A skilled support worker should be able to provide both emotional and physical support when needed to ensure that participants feel in control of their lives.
- **Support Worker Responsibilities**:_
- Providing emotional support by talking to clients about their needs and listening to their concerns.
- Assisting with domestic tasks including shopping, cooking, vacuuming, laundry and general cleaning, ironing and washing.
- Tending to the healthcare needs of each client.
- Helping clients to participate in leisure activities.
- Daily living support, including attending to low and/or high personal care needs.
- Assisting with medications in line with medication management plans.
- Supporting people to access the community and appointments
- Manual handling, including the use of mobile and ceiling hoists
- Behavioural support, including managing challenging behaviours and behaviours of concern.
- Implementing Behaviour Support Plans (PBSP’s)
- Provide person-centred active support to participants in one-to-one and group-based activities and use positive behaviour support strategies
- Assist in the creation and monitoring of individual goal plans or follow planned programs, as directed
- Complete required documentation and progress notes as required
- Promote a stimulating, caring and culturally appropriate environment for participants
- Provide any required self-care, social and emotional support to participants
- Maintain appropriate and effective communication with all stakeholders, including team leaders, peers and management
- Supporting people to achieve their individual goals in line with their person-centred support plan.

**_Requirements to qualify for an Interview: _**
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to helping others.
- Able to build rapport quickly
- Ability to understand and be patient/calm irrespective of provocation from participant being cared for or supported
- Must be compassionate when carrying out his/her duties
- Ability to carry out domestic duties.
- Flexibility in availability
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision
- He/she must display a great level of trust and honesty at all times
- Must possess excellent problem-solving abilities
- Must be able to adaptable and enthusiastic
- Act as a role model to the participant that is being supported or guided

- Criminal History Check (must be less than 6 months old)
- Current NDIS Worker Screening and Blue Card
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Own vehicle with comprehensive insurance and unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence
- Have flexibility of hours from Monday to Sunday
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
**Job Type**: Casual
**Salary**: $29.00 - $40.00 per hour
