DVA is seeking a person who is motivated and displays initiative in the management, development and delivery of library services. We are seeking a person who has demonstrated library-based strategic thinking skills and experience, harnesses information and opportunities and shows sound judgement.
The function of the role also includes management and administration of collection materials, finances, suppliers and document delivery/interlibrary loan services.
**Duties**
- Manage the efficient operation of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs’ Library, providing a full range of library services, including complex specialist research and reference services to internal and external users
- Plan, develop and implement library digitisation projects to align with the Departmental goals of providing more efficient digital service delivery. This includes design and use of current RDA metadata and classification schemes for digitisation projects based on current best practice
- Provide efficient and effective technical services for the operation of the library service, including the management of the SirsiDynix EOS Library Management System
- Oversee and manage accurate and timely expenditure records to support reconciliation and reporting, accurate forecasting, planning and budget controls
- Actively participate as part of the management team of the Information and Records Management Section for the effective planning and provision of library facilities and services for the department
- Represent DVA at various agency specific, whole of government, and service provider forums related to the business of the Library.
**Eligibility**
- Applicants must be an Australian citizen to apply.
- Recognised tertiary library degree and eligibility for Association Membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
