**About the role**:
The Head of Data will be responsible for overall ownership of data strategy, the enterprise data platform, data policies, procedures and standards.
You will have responsibility for enabling the data strategy and working with the governance function around technology and information management capabilities to ensure Avant has high data quality, secure protection and effective stewardship of data. In addition, you will guarantee that information management processes and workflows are fit-for-purpose for Group Solutions, and when necessary, for other Avant business units.
**Key Accountabilities**:

- Lead and operate the Data Strategy function to achieve high quality outcomes.
- Develop the Avant Group Solutions data strategy by providing critical inputs for enterprise and information management.
- Work with Data Governance Manager to oversee the management of the data governance lifecycle including; maintaining high data quality and defining data policies and procedures.
- Oversee the management of data stewardship by collaborating with relevant business units and Group Solutions functions.
- Provide insights for setting and managing privacy standards thereby protecting privacy across Avant.
- Lead the build, management, and protection of the enterprise data platform as well as related enterprise data.
- Enhance, build or transform data capabilities to support Avant’s operating model and data usage objectives and democratise data across Avant, ensuring correct access of data for the business.
- Work across teams to support the data platform and business data owners.

**Skills and experience required**:

- Tertiary qualification in information science, business, engineering, information technology, computer or actuarial science (or a related discipline).
- Knowledge of the insurance or financial Services sector.
- Demonstrated experience in building and leading data teams.
- Demonstrated experience in developing data strategy, data management, governance and with data platforms.
- Comprehensive understanding of regulatory trends and requirements.
- Strong understanding of methods, processes and procedures relating to data management, platforms and governance
