Our Northern Specialist Family Violence Service (NSFVS) team are the lead provider for the integrated family violence service system in the Northern Metropolitan sub-region. The NSFVS provides support services to victim survivors of family violence including children, inclusive of cisgender heterosexual women; and people from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer Community (LGBTIQ+).
**The Opportunity**
The Northern Specialist Family Violence Service aims to support victim survivors and their children to remain safely within their community and maintain a life free of violence while also addressing the emotional and practical needs and issues arising from the violence.
We currently have one position available and is based at our Preston office**on Wurundjeri Country with a mix of working in the office and working from home.
- ** Part-time (0.8), Fixed Term (Until August 2026)**:

**Key Responsibilities**
The primary objective of a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner Response
- Brief, Intermediate and Intensive Role is to:
- Flexibility to respond to needs of the case management, communities, counselling and intake teams including providing brief/intermediate responses to victim survivors due to staff leave (planned and unplanned). This will include during high demand periods, for example, Christmas, New Years or school holidays periods.
- In conjunction with the ‘Specialist Family Violence Practitioner
- Active Holding Practitioner’, the role will be responsible for supporting victim survivors in a short-term capacity until they are allocated a primary case manager.
- Complete comprehensive MARAM risk assessment and safety planning with victim survivors and their children.
- Partnering with victim survivors and their children within an Intersectional Feminist framework to identify and achieve specialist family violence goals.
- Work collaboratively with other agencies as required to ensure sharing of risk relevant information to support intervention in the perpetrator’s choice to use violence and promote victim survivors’ safety.
- Prioritise participating in reflective practice, professional development and supervision.
- Perform other duties in line with position as required and/or requested by management.
**About You**
Previous experience working with family violence victim survivors and doing risk assessment and safety planning is desirable.
