- The position is part of the Transport Network Planning Integration team within the Metro Transport Division of the Transport Services Group. The Transport Network Planning Integration team plays a critical role in collaborating with a range of internal and external stakeholders to understand future land use and transport network needs. The team develops solutions in partnership with our stakeholders that ensure Melbourne’s broader transport network objectives are achievable in the medium to long term.
- The role will support senior team members in reviewing proposals (for example structure plans, land use plans, transport projects) which relate to the state transport networks. The role ensures that transport across multiple modes can meet the needs of Melbourne’s future communities and also integrates with land use.
**Position Outcomes/ Accountabilities**
- Provide integrated transport input into on-road transport network plans and place-based plans that respond to user needs and can be practically implemented from an operational and engineering.
- Contribute to the development of integrated transport plans and transport priorities, support the preparation of corridor strategies and changes to the road network that supports all modes.
- Assist in the development of requirements for transport projects that consider the needs of all road users and ensure proposals meet the requirements and broader network outcomes.
- Represent the Department of Transport and Transport Services Division by engaging with and providing timely and accurate advice to senior management, Government other Departmental divisions and external stakeholders, including councils, advocacy groups and community groups.
- Work independently and manage a range of tasks and projects over a broad geographic or functional area with limited supervision by the manager.
- In line with Section 31A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic) other duties may be assigned consistent with employment classification, skills, and capabilities
**Key Selection Criteria** We’re seeking someone who can think strategically and align plans with the broader objectives of the transport network. You’ll have a demonstrated ability to engage with others to gather insights and prepare well-informed, balanced recommendations. Strong written communication skills are essential, with the ability to craft clear, purposeful, and professional documents. You’ll be a proactive problem-solver who seeks relevant information and proposes practical solutions. Collaboration is key—we’re looking for a team player who values diverse working styles and builds strong stakeholder relationships while managing expectations effectively. **Qualifications and Experience**
- A relevant tertiary degree such as Planning, Economics or Engineering is required.
