**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
The Place and Engagement team is responsible for promoting, supporting and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders within Cumberland City Council.

We have an exciting opportunity within our Place and Engagement team for a dynamic Community Engagement Officer who will facilitate community engagement with local residents, businesses and key stakeholders within Cumberland City Council. This position will implement strategies to encourage relevant groups and affected parties to actively participate in dealing with specific issues as well as the future strategic direction of Council.

Reporting to the Coordinator Community Engagement and Communications this role works closely with internal and external stakeholders to implement consultation strategies and initiatives through various methods to encourage active participation. This position will also present information to relevant groups, businesses and stakeholders in the local community to engage in feedback.

The successful applicant will require:

- Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Social Science, Public Relations or a related field.
- Excellent written communication, research skills, and high level interpersonal and networking skills.
- Strong project management skills with the demonstrated ability to deliver multiple projects concurrently on time and within budget.
- Proven experience in the field of community engagement and stakeholder relations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of traditional and emerging community engagement approaches
- Demonstrated experience in working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- Demonstrated experience in providing a superior level of customer service and the ability to create and manage ongoing relationships.
- High level computer literacy, particularly in the MS Office suite of products.
- Current Class C driver's license.

**Position information**: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement.

This role is predominantly located at Council's Merrylands and Auburn office, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations.

**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 11 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,584.79 to $1,822.51 per week, plus 10.5% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
