**Theatre Technician - Operating Suite**

The Royal Women’s Hospital is Australia’s first and largest specialist hospital dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of newborns and women of all ages. Perioperative Services at the Royal Women’s Hospital is a comprehensive dedicated department incorporating all aspects involved in surgical intervention for patients. The following departments are included: Triage, Surgical Pre admission Clinic, Booking Office, Anaesthetic Department, Acute Pain Services, Operating Theatre and the Day Surgery Unit.
The Operating Suite provides surgical services 24 hours per day, seven days a week and consists of five operating theatres including one dedicated emergency theatre, two procedure rooms, and a ten bay PACU. Surgical specialties include obstetrics, gynaecology, urogynaecology, breast, and oncology.

**Your contribution**

The Grade 1-3 Theatre Technician is responsible for providing technical care to women and their families within a multidisciplinary team environment, working collegially with other health professionals, and under the leadership of a Grade 5 Theatre Technician.

A Grade 4 Theatre Technician will also be expected to undertake any relevant additional given responsibilities determined locally i.e supervision and training of junior Theatre Technicians (where employed) or quality and governance.

Theatre Technicians provide patient focused care for women and babies. The care provided is evidence based and directed to improving the surgical outcomes for women and their families. Educational support can also be provide for motivated applicants.

Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:

- Assist nursing staff in preparing the operating theatre for surgery
- Assist medical and nursing staff in transferring and positioning patient
- Assist in the transportation of patients within and outside the operating suite

**About you**
- Hold a Theatre Technician qualification / Certificate IV in Operating Theatre Technician Support (HLT47515) and relevant experience as per the EBA
- Prior relevant experience as a Theatre Technician
- Experience in working effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Willing to work a rotating roster of weekdays, weekends and night duty

**Salary/Grade will commensurate with indivudal's relevant qualifications and experience.**

**Influenza Vaccination Requirement**

In line with the Health Services Amendment (Mandatory Vaccination of Healthcare Workers) Act 2020, some health care workers are now required to have their flu vaccination to work in health care.

As this role fits into category A or B of the departments risk ratings, applicants will be required to have been vaccinated against influenza.

All applicants will be required to provide acceptable evidence of their vaccination status.
