A well established Performing Arts Centre, The Besen Centre (part of Mount Scopus Memorial College) is looking for the services of a proactive and self-motivated Theatre Technician to work in our close knit team in Burwood, Victoria supporting both school and commercial client requirements.
Ideally you would have an interest in Live Theatre or Event Production including an understanding or experience of Audio systems, Lighting systems and Fly systems for our busy venue which would be an asset. Strong attention to detail and follow through, are a must in this diverse role.
As a Theatre Technician your role will encompass many aspects of the Theatre supporting the Technical/Production Manager and Senior Theatre Technician to help deliver and support our internal and external client's, allowing them to stage the best events, maintain the highest professional standards, which will keep you challenged and busy.
If you are a proactive and self-motivated person with a strong technical and client focus, take pride and ownership in your contribution, and have excellent attention to detail this could be your role.
Your general duties include:
- Set up and operate in-house systems and equipment, and support production crews in the utilisation of lighting, sound, vision and multimedia equipment.
- Drive a safe work environment.
- Design & operate audio systems and lighting systems.
- Consult with hirers to deliver key objectives of the productions, technical outcomes, and manage the technical operations of hirers productions and other events
- Support other productions and events that require technical supervision and operation.
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- To be able to work to a roster around weekdays and weekends
- Experience working in a theatre or live entertainment environment.
- Experience operating lighting desks, Have a basic understanding of lighting systems.
- Experience operating audio desks in a live environment, Have a basic understanding of audio systems. Experience operating radio mics and orchestras in a theatre environment would be beneficial. (Familiarity with Yamaha Audio and Hog 4 Lighting consoles would be a bonus)
- A high degree of problem solving and the ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated technical understanding and knowledge of work health and safety in a theatrical environment.
