**Working on portfolio and non-portfolio legislation and strategic policy programs, you will work closely with a talented and highly dedicated team of professionals to ensure the Queensland Police service is able to uphold its vision, purpose, and values, including keeping the community safe.

As part of this role, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support government priorities as they relate to preventing, disrupting, responding, and investigating crime.

Your key accountabilities

The core capability requirements for this role are:

- Lead and deliver legislative and policy projects in relation to portfolio legislation, consideration of financial implications, develop Cabinet and Cabinet Budget Review Committee submissions, draft instructions for bills/regulations, explanatory notes and other supporting documentation for Cabinet/Parliament.
- Provide high quality strategic and independent advice on issues of strategy, planning, budget, performance, corporate governance, Cabinet documents, and draft legislation.
- Provide advice on various commercial and government initiatives and developments, including the identification and development of policy and implementation strategies as appropriate.
- Lead the identification of potential risks and issues, and develop innovative strategies and solutions that support quality business outcomes
- Prepare and review complex reports and submissions including Cabinet and Ministerial submissions, briefing notes and departmental correspondence.
- Undertake high-level research and critical analysis, and deliver presentations and reports to senior executives.
- Build and sustain partnerships and networks with key stakeholders to meet organisational objectives, and represent QPS in the development of programs, projects and policies.

Role Requirements:
Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience
- There are no mandatory requirements for this role however, experience in policing, criminology, law or a similar criminal justice related field will be considered favourably.
