**The Role**
Within the Procurement Policy function, APS4 Policy Officers are accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve moderately complex procurement policy work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to have and maintain a well-developed understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision making and Defence mission and policy requirements.
The Procurement Policy Officer positions in DCIS are accountable under limited direction to perform quality assurance of all Defence and Australian Signals Directorate contracts prior to publication on AusTender. This involves helpdesk support and working with customers to ensure information being publicly reported meets AusTender reporting guidelines as well as assisting with the education of Defence staff on reporting requirements and obligations. You will have visibility of the full breadth and scale of procurement across the Defence organisation and will play a key role in preventing potential harm to Defence through quality assurance to prevent the release of sensitive or damaging information.
The role will maintain multiple focuses and be responsible for various business as usual activities associated with AusTender and various projects which impact on the delivery of commercial information solutions. In addition to contract assurance, this role will work within the team to assist with procurement related statutory reporting, tendering support services and customer support services.
**About our Team**
The Directorate of Commercial Information Solutions (DCIS) is a small team responsible for the delivery and continuous improvement of innovative commercial information solutions that enhance Defence’s value for money outcomes and reduce reputational risk through provision of AusTender support and commercial reporting. The DCIS is accountable for the delivery of various business improvement initiatives and projects which aim to ensure Defence is maximising the use of available technology to achieve more efficient, effective and economical procurement practices, specifically where AusTender is linked in the process.
The directorate is heavily engaged in providing input into the Defence Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Program. This includes assisting with the scoping, delivery and support of the new Defence ERP systems requirements definition, reviewing and providing input to the procurement requirements, preparing use case scenarios for solution design. The directorate has the stewardship and overall responsibility for the management of quality of procurement and contract data under the ERP Program.
You are enthusiastic, eager to learn and flexible. You have strong written and verbal communication skills and can effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders. You are willing to work as part of a small, dynamic team, have good time management skills and are able to exercise judgement to manage competing priorities. You are also able to positively represent Defence at various forums. A demonstrated understanding of and/or experience in procurement and contract management is desirable but not essential.
