**The People, Property and Security Division** works in partnership to deliver strategic and operational workforce services that enable and enhance organisational capability. The division provides stewardship, support and services across integrity; conduct; property; fraud and corruption; security; performance management; rehabilitation management; recruitment; learning and development; inclusion and diversity; workforce planning and analytics; workplace relations; people support; culture and health, safety and wellbeing.

**The Property and Security Branch **is responsible for enhancing the department’s business capability through the effective management of the department’s property portfolio, property enabling functions, protective security, emergency management, as well as a range of corporate site services and commercial contracts nationally.

The Assistant Director (Property) roles are responsible for delivery of the department’s strategic approach to the ongoing management of the department’s property portfolio, which includes Office Space, Laboratories, Quarantine Facilities, Air and Sea Ports, and Detector Dog Facilities. Portfolio management responsibilities include facilities management, capital works project delivery, Property Service Provider coordination and management, contract management and reporting, and accommodation management services. The role would suit someone with experience in facilities management, capital works project management, compliance and contract management and reporting, procurement, stakeholder engagement and strong governance skills.

**The Job**

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Support the department’s facilities management services, ensuring safety and compliance, and optimising occupancy.
- Oversee development and delivery of preventative maintenance for the department’s sites, including building services, inspections, and condition assessment reports.
- Management of capital works projects to time, budget and stakeholder requirements.
- Coordinating the delivery of multiple projects through the delivery life-cycle, including funding bids, forecasting, progress and financial tracking and reporting.
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify requirements, develop and coordinate delivery plans and undertake risk assessments and mitigations.
- Undertake procurements of goods and services, in alignment with Commonwealth Procurement Rules.
- Manage delivery of departmental business functions provided to the regions.
- Provide strategic advice and assistance to the Senior Executives and stakeholders.
- Communicate and make balanced decisions using professional judgement, evaluating available information, factoring in risks and being sensitive to the context.
- Maintain process, governance, records management and contribute to continual improvement.
- Contribute to the identification, development, and implementation of opportunities to improve business management practices and processes.
- Provide issue resolution and communication for internal and external stakeholders and escalate issues that have a wider departmental impact on staff or business continuity.
- Provide leadership to Property and Security Branch staff, including coaching, capability development and problem solving.

**Please note** that this recruitment process will initially be used to fill multiple vacancies across the division. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the division where the duties are of a similar nature.
