**ABOUT THE POSITION**

Reporting to the Visitor Services Supervisor, a Tour Guide, you will** **provide an entertaining and informative experience for individuals and groups by conducting tours of the Heritage Building and Gold Exhibition. This position requires personnel who are comfortable presenting to large and small groups, conduct heritage talks discussing the history of the Perth Mint and gold rush, and conducting traditional gold pours to groups of up to 75 people. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about Western Australian history and heritage, like engaging with the public, and creating long-lasting positive experiences for visitors from near and far.

In addition to hosting tours, Tour Guides will also be required to design and engrave personalised medallions to sell to visitors and corporate buyers alike. Medallions are engraved using a specialised machine; however the design and promotion of medallions is managed by the Tour Guiding team.

All training will be provided on site.

**MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Conduct tours for visitors, school groups, media, inbound tour operators, corporate clients and VIPs.
- Perform gold pouring demonstrations in the Melt House for audiences of up to 75 people at a time, involving heavy lifting and pouring molten metal to create a 200oz (6kg) gold bar.
- Memorise a tour script 60 minutes in length and deliver spiel in an entertaining and theatrical manner.
- Create, engrave, and sell personalised medallions using specialised computer software.
- Monitor visitor safety, comfort and satisfaction and address any disorderly or disruptive conduct.
- Process payments, and end of day banking.
- Engage with culturally and linguistically diverse client base in a friendly and professional manner and answer questions based on an in-depth knowledge of the gold industry and The Perth Mint’s history and current operations.
- Flexibility to work School Holidays and weekends on a regular basis.
- Ensure own safety and health at work and avoid adversely affecting the safety or health of any other person through any act or omission at work.
