Your role at St John of God Mount Lawley Hospital

In this role, you will assist in all aspects of food preparation, equipment handing and the delivery and service of meals to patients, caregivers and visitors within the various areas of the Catering Services Department and Hospital.

As Hospitality Assistant, you will be responsible for communication with the kitchen, to deliver meal requests to patients in a timely manner, as well as collecting meal trays after service.

The role is offered on Casual basis.

The Position
- Deliver patient meals and beverages to the patient in a timely manner, providing excellent service with compassion.
- Follow instruction and guidance from Nurse Unit Manager where appropriate.
- Follow ward protocols and policy paying particular attention to infection control guidelines.
- Identify and escalate priority issues with the Coordinator Hospitality Services.
- Follow communication “scripts” for set up of the meal tray, delivery and collection of the patient meal.
- Identify customers’ needs, clarify information, and provide solutions and/or alternatives. Demonstrate compassion, commitment and connection with the patient.
- Wear uniform in accordance to hospital presentation guidelines.
- Provide feedback to the Coordinator Hospitality Services for Team Leaders from patient comments.

You will have sound verbal and interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritise workload and demonstrate good organisational skills.

To succeed you will have a basic knowledge of all areas of kitchen hygiene with a high standard of personal presentation and punctuality.

- Casual Rate of $29.31 to $30.70 plus casual loading, plus 11.5% superannuation
